INNOVATION IN A
PRODUCTION PROCESS
AWARD (sponsored by WHALE)
Winner: Monte Carlo Yachts’
modular construction system.
•Monte Carlo Yacht’s modular
construction system is a game-
changer for the industry.
Building superstructure,
deck and interior in parallel
modules enables the builder
to cut construction times by
up to 50% and to build lighter,
environmentally friendly
boats. Ultimately, the ability
to construct interiors outside
of the boat not only greatly
simplifies the build process,
but also allows for greater
levels of customisation on a
full-scale series production
line. Its latest 105 bares
testimony to this process
Honourable Mention:

DEVELOPMENT AWARD
(sponsored by Lumishore)
Winner: Brunswick Marine
EMEA and its Quicksilver
expansion outside Europe.
•In 2010, in the midst of the
financial crisis, Brunswick
decided to invest heavily
in the Quicksilver brand,
extending its footprint beyond

Giovanna, was presented
his award by IBI publishing
director Nick Hopkinson and
Sleipner’s Ronny Skauen.

The Lifetime Achievement
Award, sponsored by
Sleipner, was perhaps the
most significant award of
the evening – recognising
a luminary who has had
significant impact on
our industry, and whose
legacy will withstand the
generations.
One name stood out.
Having founded his
original boat dealership
and charter operation in
1969, Paolo Vitelli began
building fibreglass boats
in the early 1970s, with
its very first model, the
43 Bali an immediate
success. Over the years the
range would expand. The
group he founded would
acquire in 1985 one of the
world’s iconic superyacht

its turnover.

INNOVATIVE ON-BOARD
DESIGN SOLUTION AWARD
(sponsored by Fusion)
Winner: Galeon Yachts and
the ‘beach mode’ on its new
500 Fly.
•Galeon and the Tony Castro
Design team overcame the

significant engineering feat of
lowering the aft sides of the
boat, and sliding a five-foot
window into the hull sides, to
produce the kind of exterior
space and detailing expected
on much larger boats. Galeon
has brought a little superyacht
flare and functionality to the
mid-range motoryacht sector.
Honourable Mention:
Mastervolt’s CZone digital
control and monitoring
network.
