A gilt-bronze tompion, circa 1905,

from the muzzle of one of the four

9.2 inch guns mounted in single

turrets abreast the foremast and

mainmast of HMS Hindustan, a

King Edward VII-class battleship.

The future Edward VIII served as a

midshipman on her in 1910 and

had an official portrait taken in

front of one of the tompions (left).
