INTERIORS REPORT
Keep your yacht at the cutting edge with custom-made tables, chairs and
touch-free faucets that represent the vanguard of innovative design
News and trends
Nature is a recurring theme in this
year’s design sphere – from Pantone’s
verdant “greenery” hue to the use of
natural materials and vibrant prints. In
this vein, Beels & Co presents its new
console table, designed by Carlisle
Design Studio. “So much of life is spent
in cities, surrounded by technology
and the demands of busy schedules,
that almost everyone enjoys the idea
or reality of the contrasting world of
nature,” says Tom Beels. “In translating
this into luxury design we use natural
materials that have been refined by
skilled hands and specialist machinery
to bring out the most desirable
qualities.” This particular console is
plated in nickel, complemented by
white onyx blocks and laser-cut
bird’s-eye maple marquetry. The
curving table top was made to fit
exactly against a specific wall. It is
priced from £20,000, depending on
specifications. beelsandco.com

Turning a knob is so last season. Dornbracht’s new
Touchfree contactless control commands water to flow
without the eyesore of any visible sensors. It’s a
seamless match for any basin in the Dornbracht series.
Where most controls use infrared sensors, Touchfree
uses high-frequency technology to turn on a tap.
Like a motion detector, it can be set to different ranges
to suit. Touchfree will be available for delivery at the
end of 2017. dornbracht.com

Club chairs, inspired by art deco
and eggshells, are part of a new
collaboration between architect and
interior designer Suzanne Lovell and
sustainable materials company Nature
Squared. The Cracked Eggshell
Collection will encompass a limited-
edition range of furnishings. “The trend
right now is designed furniture sold in
editions that carry more value because
of the limited number produced,” says
Lovell. “This limited edition pair is truly
couture, an instant heirloom, and best
sold as a pair.” suzannelovellinc.com

Thibaut presents Oasis, a collection of complementary
Sunbrella fabrics. The beautifully soft materials are
stain-fast and light-resistant, and are durable enough to
double as outdoor fabrics as well – ideal for a sundeck. And
even if the younger guests make a mess, the fabrics can be
washed without shrinking. thibautdesign.com

Glyn Peter Machin has three new bespoke interior pieces for superyachts.
The central piece of the Big Blue dining table is a one-inch thick piece of glass
replicating the color of the Med. Steel surrounds the glass and the table is trimmed
in solid wenge, while the edges are filled out in grainy zebrano. But the
conversation piece is the rippled sycamore Composition Cabinet, above, which
hosts a sound system. All are made to order in Denmark. glynpetermachin.com
