It’s not just
dayboating — it’s
day-cruising. We
are headed for
the island, just
for the day — the
afternoon really.
Parasailing is one of the more
popular activities in the waters just
off Catalina Island. It’s a thrilling
way to get a view of Avalon Harbor
and its surroundings from a unique
perspective. The Inn at Mt. Ada
— formerly the Wrigley home —
is a dignified presence on the
hillside above Avalon. Stay there
for the weekend or enjoy lunch (by
reservation). On the Green Pier,
which is the hub of activity for water-
based activities in Avalon, is a green
building that houses the harbor
offices, a restaurant and more. From
the land end of the pier, all of Avalon
is accessible.
Mike and Dawn Werling relax during
the return trip.
Stephanie Shibata keeps a lookout
for sea life.
Geoff Swing stays alert despite a
decided lack of boat traffic on a
Wednesday.
