Sea Magazine – May 2017

For many boaters, one of the first events they put on their cruising calendar is a rendezvous event. Yes, they
plan to visit favorite marinas, anchorages, gunkholes and fishing spots, but there is something about
rendezvous that appeal to the social animal in humans. So whether it’s a brand-specific rendezvous or a
more broad event that covers several brands or a specific type of boat, boat owners are going to attend.
Up and down the West Coast, rendezvous fill up summer weekends with fun, education, fun and the
sharing of knowledge, as like-minded folks get together. Educational seminars and informal classes — engine
repair, trip planning, cleaning and maintenance, and navigation — are part of many rondy events, and they
are definitely beneficial.
From May through October, the West Coast is replete with rendezvous. Check out our list below to find
the right one for you.

Rendezvous by

MANUFACTURER

S

ome events are intended to celebrate one brand of boat and are
usually sponsored by a particular manufacturer, dealer or owners’
group. Boating is a common interest among attendees, yes, but they also
own a specific kind of boat, which is a natural bonding agent. Owners can
help other owners figure out repair tricks, storage hacks, fuel-saving
techniques, winterization routines and much more.
