BUGSWORTH BASIN was built to connect
the Peak Forest Canal to the horse tramways
linking to the limestone mines in the Peak
District; the busy complex expanded to
include multiple basins, arms, lime kilns,
wharves and tramway tracks. Since the
1960s the Bugsworth Basin Heritage Trust
(formerly the Inland Waterways Protection
Society) has restored it from dereliction.
