Fairline steals the headlines despite an explosion of new models

Bénéteau has launched the first
single-brand boat club in France.
Taking inspiration from clubs in the
US, the Bénéteau Boat Club gives
members access to 60 motor boats
across 15 locations in France and Spain.
To join the scheme, potential
members must have an appropriate
boating qualification and lodge
a €1,000 deposit online. Following
acceptance, they use a credit system
to book the boat they would like at
their chosen location.
Bénéteau claims its club is cheaper
for members than traditional chartering
methods. Boats available include all
four models of the Flyer range. Sized
from 5.5-9m, the club fleet features
sport, walkaround and cabin versions
of the different models. All boats will

they heralded a distinctive change
of direction for the yard.
The Bénéteau Group celebrated
its home show by announcing
revenues of €853m for the first
nine months of the 2017 financial
year. The GT50 sportscruiser and
MCY 96 were well received but the
biggest plaudits were saved for the

Fairline launched the Targa 63 GTO and
announced a new waterside manufacturing site

Largest in Europe

Fairline was the talk of the Cannes
Yachting Festival despite a show
of strength from Europe’s biggest
boatbuilders. By choosing the French
show to launch the Targa 63 GTO, its
first all-new boat since being bought
out of administration, and announcing
a new waterside manufacturing
facility to build boats over 70ft,
the British yard managed to steal
the limelight from its bigger rivals.

If Fairline bagged the headlines,
the Ferretti Group won the race for the
most new model launches, including
two Ferrettis (780 and 920), two Rivas
(56 and 100), a Pershing 9X and
Custom Line Navetta 33. Ferretti
boss Alberto Galassi boasted that
the new models had helped generate
more profit in the first eight months
of 2017 than in the whole of 2016.

Bénéteau claims its new club is
the largest in Europe and has plans

The club also extends to social events
for its members including previews of
new models and boating rendezvous.
