Motor Boat & Yachting — November 2017

(Tuis.) #1
Sunseeker claims the new 76 Yacht
has 25% more exterior deck space
than the previous 75. Given that it’s
only 2ft longer and 8in wider, that
seems unlikely until you step aboard
and see just how big the outside
spaces are. Even the cockpit feels a
step up on its predecessor, with an aft
-facing corner settee complementing
the usual dinette and creating a more
sociable ambience. It’s the same story
on the foredeck, where back-to-back
seats face each other across another
teak table. And that’s before you climb
the stairs to the flybridge where yet

more dining, lounging and
bar-propping opportunities await,
not to mention an optional hot tub.
The flow between inside and
outside spaces has also been
improved with glass doors that
slide under the flybridge stairs to
leave the maximum possible opening
to the saloon. This is further enhanced
by a single-floor level that runs
unencumbered by steps or bulkheads
all the way from the transom to the
raised helm. You can choose to have
the galley enclosed but that would
make a mess of the sightlines and the

feeling of light and space it currently
enjoys. An optional opening sunroof
over the helm is the icing on the
cake that gives the impression
of being on a sleek sportsyacht
rather than a full-fat flybridge
cruiser.
That impression soon
evaporates when you head
below decks and discover
there’s room for three
double guest cabins all with
full standing headroom and
their own ensuite bathrooms
in addition to the predictably

lavish full-beam master suite. The
windows in here stretch the full length
of the cabin with a floor-to-ceiling
mirror next to the vanity unit helping
to bounce the light around.
A walk-in wardrobe leads
into the bathroom and helps
insulate the sleeping area
from the engineroom.
With twin 1550hp MANs and
a top speed of 34 knots, this
should be quite a ride. Thankfully
there’s accommodation for three
crew to help wash it down at the
end of the day. The hydraulic
platform has been upgraded to
handle a Williams 445 and can
be specified with the optional
beachclub shower and barbecue.
Clever as the Manhattan 52
and 66 are, the 76 Yacht is in another
league in terms of size, finish and
price. Given the number of customers
we saw discussing terms during
the show, we suspect Sunseeker
has another hit on its hands.
