STARS OF SOUTHAMPTON

The 500 has been a roaring success
for Prestige with around 450 of them
happily bobbing about worldwide.
The all-new 520 will run alongside
the 500 for now but it features some
layout tweaks to improve on the 500’s
already impressive living spaces.
The cockpit now has a more
sociable L-shaped seating area
with a single walkway off the bathing
platform but there is still good access
to the port side deck via a teak

walkway aft of the flybridge steps.
Below the aft deck, customers
can choose to have a double crew
cabin or a tender garage large
enough to swallow a Williams
Minijet or low-profile 285 Turbojet.
The galley, located aft, is well
positioned to serve the saloon as
easily as it does the cockpit and to
starboard, a reworking of the furniture
leaves space for a walkway and side
door that allows quick access to the

side deck directly from the saloon.
It’s not so useful for the helmsman
but it does mean that guests don’t
have to squeeze past the person at
the wheel to get outside.
The sleeping accommodation is
one of the 520’s strongest features as
the master cabin enjoys private direct
access from a stairway opposite
the galley. It’s a cabin blessed with
natural light and excellent headroom
plus a well-proportioned ensuite.

Prestige 520

Guest accommodation is accessed
via a forward companionway and
comprises a VIP ensuite with scissor-
action berths and a twin cabin with
sliding beds that can quickly convert
from two singles to a generous double.
The twin cabin doesn’t have its own
bathroom but it does have access
to the VIP ensuite, which also acts
as the day heads.
The flybridge has the added
practicality of a two-way backrest
on the front section of the dinette
so that a couple more people can sit
facing forward on passage. There is
also the option to have a hardtop on
the 520 in lieu of the standard bimini.
Volvo Penta IPS600 is the only
engine option available, which
Prestige claims will push the 520
to a top speed of 26 knots and a
comfortable fast cruise of 22 knots.
Hardly a thunderous performance,
but it is appropriate for the type
of laid-back cruising that the 520
is designed for. Contact See
