amaha’s 2018 WaveRunner
line-up is set to feature a
new flagship model, plus
new graphics and colour
combinations throughout,
with the expanded range claimed to
cater for all riders from beginners
to weekend adventurers, sports
enthusiasts, racers and serious tourers.
“Following the successful debut of
the GP1800 and EX series, it’s fantastic
to witness the continued evolution of
the WaveRunner range,” Mark Harman,
Yamaha Motor Australia’s national
marketing and comms coordinator,
said of the launch.
The 2018 range is headlined with the

new-to-Australia FX Limited SVHO, a
luxury/performance model that was
launched in the USA this year. The
2018 FX Limited SVHO is the direct
evolution of the previous FX Cruiser
SVHO, and features four flush-mount
mooring cleats, new CNC-cut deck
matts, Yamaha’s three-person cruiser
seat, RiDE dual throttle controls, Rider-
assist controls and Yamaha’s dry-riding
FX hull constructed from light yet
durable NanoXcel 2.
Power comes from the industry’s
largest-capacity personal watercraft
powertrain, the supercharged 1.8-litre,
four-cylinder SVHO (Super Vortex
High Output) marine engine. Power

is transferred via the race-developed
top-loader intake grate and a 160mm
high-pressure pump, claimed to deliver
best-in-class acceleration and eye-
watering top-speeds.
In addition to the luxury/
performance range, Yamaha offers a
complete personal watercraft range,
including stand-up models, a rec-lite
range, and family range – something for
every rider and skill level.
The 2018 range is expected to be
available in the final quarter of 2017.
