SO YA WANNA FISH?
“Let’s go fishing!” was the cry as I
jumped into the Chaparral 210 Ski/Fish
to tackle some of Western Port’s finest
whiting. The Ski/Fish was fitted with a
150hp Honda and whilst that was fine
for a couple of blokes going fishing, it
would have been found lacking with a
load and a skier to tow.
And I’m sorry Mr and Mrs Chaparral,
this just ain’t my boat – but let me
explain. The package is terrific for lure
fishing, with folding rear seats that
become handy platforms, a bow-
mounted electric motor and a bowrider
that converts to a casting pulpit. I
recognise lure casting is a large part
of the Australian fishing market – and
virtually all of it in the US – but it’s a
very minor part of my life.
But it’s not all about me, and the
Chaparral 210 Ski/Fish will appeal as
a family package that needs to cover
a full array of aquatic pursuits. It will
appeal to estuary, freshwater and
impoundment fishos rather than old
bait-soakers like me, and will certainly
please anyone with a taste for quality
and comfort thanks to its inviting
seating options and alluring internal
trim. Plus it’s got an enclosed toilet – in
a 21-footer!
The 210 SunCoast Ski/Fish gave
us great insights into the flexibility
available in the Chaparral range – go
online and you can design your own
perfect sports and fishing machine.
