Our very own Kyle Waterhouse
has been named as a Garmin
Ambassador. He is the current
European Kayak Champion and said
of the announcement; “I’m extremely
proud to be joining the Garmin
shing team. To have the support
and involvement with what I believe
to be the biggest marine electronics
brand is massively exciting. As
a kayak angler, I’ve been using
Garmin tech for several seasons
and the electronics I use make a
huge di erence to my success and
enjoyment of the sport. I’m buzzing
about my future shing career as a
Garmin ambassador.”
The 2017 shing team uses
Garmin electronics on their boats
and kayaks during training and
tournaments. The team is equipped
with detailed charts and best-in-
class electronics and technology,
including the GPSMAP® 7410xsv
J1939 and GPSMAP® 1022xsv series
chart plotters ranging in size from
seven - to twelve -inches. They will
also be equipped with the Garmin
Panoptix™ PS-30 & PS-31 all-seeing
sonar. Garmin was, apparently,
the rst to give anglers the ability
to see all around their boat in real
time by bringing Panoptix™ sonar
imaging to the water. Using this
technology, they will also be able to
instantly create their personalised
HD maps with 1-foot contours with
the free and easy to use Quickdraw™
Contours and share it with the
Quickdraw Community on Garmin
Connect™.
Turn to page 48 where Kyle writes
about the Panoptix unit in his latest
article. Well done Kyle and of course
he will continue to be a part of the
Saltwater team.

Mea Culpa -
Lighthouse
Correction
Last month we published an article
about the Eddystone Lighthouse
and the reef surrounding it. Several
sharp-eyed readers noticed that
one of the pictures, an aerial shot of
the lighthouse and the reef, looked
suspiciously like a di erent location.
Well, they were right! It was in fact a
shot of the Skerryvore lighthouse in
Scotland. We would add that, Mike
Millman, who wrote the article, did
not supply this picture – so apologies
all round for the error.
