hile many of the Leeward Islands suffered terrible damage at
the hands of Hurricane Irma, much of the Caribbean remains
very much open for business. The Caribbean includes some
7,000 islands – each with its own unique character and
geography – spread over 1 million square miles, and many
southerly islands were unaffected by the two storms of Irma and Maria.
A huge number of communities across the Caribbean depend heavily on
tourism, with dozens of small businesses set up to support visiting
yachtsmen. If you are planning a season cruising, there are many
options where visiting sailors will be welcomed and the Caribbean
experience is still waiting to be explored.
