New Adventures

You may have noticed a few things diff erent inside these
pages, the move to better quality paper, the addition of
another boat for sale on the cover and more coverage of
boats and our boating lifestyle. The good news is that this
will continue under our new owners Adventures Group
Holdings.
Adventures represents a range of outdoor lifestyle
brands, namely Caravan World, Camper and Outdoor, all
of which are pillars in their industries, specialising in
more than just print. They are experts at events, industry
support and engagement with their audiences. No slight
on our previous owners but I feel Trade-a-Boat is in good
hands, hands that will grow the brand back toward what it
once was. Hopefully you come along for the ride.
Aside from the new top level leadership, there is no
significant change to the creative team. The group that
has been with me for the last four years remains intact
and are excited by the changes; our focus, to give you
unbiased opinion on boats and accessories, remains and
I will stay at the helm. We are still looking to produce our
annual Australia’s Greatest Boats celebration of trailerable
fishing boats, but delayed until somewhere in Q1 2018.
Our only significant change, and one that I feel for, is the
loss of Adam Morrissey. Unfortunately, in the change of
guard, Adam’s role became redundant. Adam served as
our lead sub and produced his own content for Trade-a-
Boat for the bulk of the last two years. His ability to sub
my dribble into readable sentences constantly bamboozled
me, honestly. No matter what I had to say, he had a clearer
way to articulate it. I’ll miss his work but hope to keep in
contact. The interesting outcome of the change is that an
old seaman is back on deck. Peter Quilty joins us as my
deputy. He worked on Trade-a-Boat 16 years ago would
you believe, and is excited to get his hands wet again.
Personally I’m excited to learn from Peter and how the
magazine operated all those years ago, I still have much
to learn.
If you want to talk to us, we are always listening. The
best form of contact is email and our Trade-a-Boat group
address is

Safe boating,
Tim.
