WINS AWARDS AT CANNES
The Weiti Boating Club, situated on
the shores of the Weiti (Wade) River,
Whangaparaoa, Auckland will be celebrating
its 50th Jubilee, March 23-25 next year.

will provide billeted accommodation.During the Cannes Yachting Festival in
September, Azimut Yachts presented four new
models, each embodying Azimut’s La Dolce Vita
3.0 brand strategy, which debuted at the show.
La Dolce Vita 3.0 brings together luxury, joie de
vivre and ‘Made in Italy’.
The Azimut Grande 35Metri boasts carbon
fibre construction and streamlined internal
design, characterised by the master suite’s
unique swivelling balcony, which opens out
directly onto the sea.
The wide-body Grande 27Metri features a full-
beam master suite on the main deck and three or
four cabins on the lower deck, a layout practically
unheard of in yachts of this size.
The Azimut S7 Coupé and Sportfly boast
carbon-fibre construction, spacious interiors byFrancesco Guida, and three Volvo IPS engines.
The eye-catching Azimut 60 Flybridge
has an unusually large flybridge and stunning
interior. Features include full-height windows
and a series of lounge areas which create tiny
islands of privacy.
The new models were awarded prestigious
World Yachts Trophies at a function organised
by Yachts France magazine at the 2017 Cannes
Yachting Festival.
The Azimut 60 won Best Layout Trophy in
the 50 to 80-foot category, the Grande 27 Metri
the Most Achieved Trophy in the 80 to 125-foot
category, the Grande 35 Metri the Best Interior
Design Trophy, 80-125 feet, and the S7 won the
Best Technology Evolution Trophy.

CLUB JUBILEEMARINA OPENING A
COMMUNITY AFFAIR
To celebrate the successful completion of the 18-month redevelopment of the
Motuoapa Marina, the Lake Taupō Harbourmaster’s Office held a community
event in November with speeches and a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a range of
food stalls, displays and other family fun activities.
The pre-existing marina had come to the end of its life.
With a life expectancy of over 50 years, the Motuoapa Marina will be home
to 158 permanently berthed vessels ranging from 8 to 14 metres in length.
There are public reserve areas, additional boat ramps, car parking, rest rooms
and even a beach for residents and visitors to enjoy.
The event marked the combined efforts of the Harbourmaster team and
the Department of Internal Affairs, supported by the three associated hapū
alongside the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board, and all the many people in the
project delivery team.Joseph Parker’s brand-new Stabicraft 2400 Supercab, powered by
twin 115hp Evinrude engines and supplied by Kev & Ian’s Marine, was
officially launched at the Maraetai Boating Club in late October.
Team Parker, accompanied by cameras and reporters in
another Stabicraft, set off for Waiheke Island for a spot of fishing.
Within minutes Joseph hooked the first fish of the day, which dad,
Dempsey, turned into sushi for breakfast.
With the stereo blaring, Joseph demonstrated a few funky dance
moves and Dempsey belted out some Elvis. Snapper and kahawai
were practically jumping into the boat.
The Parker family have a long-standing relationship with
Stabicraft and Kev & Ian’s Marine and look forward to their new
adventure with Evinrude power.
“Matt [Watson, ITM Hook Me Up] said it’s the best and we wanted
a bit more punch with the new boat,” says Joseph.
The day ended back at Maraetai
with drinks and a bite to eat.
