LISA GRANT ADDS FRIDGETECH

CAMCRAFT 6.8 PLUS VERADOS

EQUALS OFF-SHORE BEAST
Pushed by a pair of Mercury 350 Verado outboards, this 6.8m
CamCraft sport fishing boat touches 64 knots.
It’s turning heads along Mornington Peninsula, near
Melbourne, where it is being run regularly to get hours up on
the engines.
“When I push the throttle, the sound is unbelievable – not
loud – just unbelievable,” says owner Neil Robertson, who
also cites brilliant fuel economy for the rig.
The original plan was to put the 350 Verados on a
different, larger CamCraft boat, but when the 8m boat was
delayed, Neil asked CamCraft to put the Verados on a 6.8 he

could use in the meantime.
“As soon as I had it in the water, I thought ‘forget about the
8m; this is perfect’.”
A lot of time was spent getting the balance and trim just
right: “It’s a lot of power but we were assured by the builder
that the boat could handle it and he was absolutely right,” says
Neil, who can’t wait to get out into the deep blue.
“This one really is an off-shore boat that I’m going to use
to chase marlin, and it’s going to be amazing.”
