Steady Changes
Last month I introduced our new owners and hinted
toward subtle changes on the horizon. Hopefully you saw
the start of these then, like the move to gloss paper.
This issue, we head further into where we want to be soon,
a buyer and seller’s bible. As most of you know, we operate
a website for buying and selling boats, Tradeboats.com.
au. For years the modus operandi has been to keep these
two platforms distinct. One of our first missions is to break
this paradigm and we start in this issue. From page 97, we
have more classified ads than any time over the past year
and would you believe it, next issue we will give you more!
Our goal is to get the back of the book to what it once was,
pages to daydream about. Why this change? It’s simple
and has been obvious for years, that many of you read this
book from the back to find bargains, or get a feel for where
the market is. We want to bring this back.
NOT TO TAKE ANYTHING AWAY
THOUGH
You may assume that this means a lessening of focus
on new boats and what you see in the next 75 pages.
That’s not true. We still aim to maintain a focus on what
is new and exciting in the marine world. Like this month’s
cover boat, the Greenline 39. It’s a boat and brand that is
bucking the trend and rising from the ashes of eff ective
bankruptcy in what is still a turbulent market. Rest
assured, we will maintain support for new and exciting
brands and products, as they are the future bargains, the
future brokerage boats.
LPG
Liquified petroleum gas is a hot topic country-wide and
for good reason, with costs rising at a steady and alarming
rate. It makes its debut in Tohatsu outboards on pages 82
to 84. Andrew ‘The Engine Man’ Norton has been loaned
a few models to appraise and as per usual, his work is
thorough. His first report, on the MFS5C LPG, covers what
matters, our environment. And although noted that the
initial purchase price is higher than traditional four-
strokes, the long term outlook is good for this innovative
move by Tohatsu. Time will tell on reliability and we will
report back when confident.
Safe boating,
Tim
