Mercury Marine has
introduced an ultra-
lightweight and reliable
15/20hp EFI FourStroke
platform, and launched
an innovative new multi-
function tiller handle –
the world’s first portable
outboard tiller that
offers true ambidextrous
operation.
Designed for anglers,
recreational family boaters
and commercial operators,
Mercury’s latest outboard
features battery-free EFI
for fast, reliable starting,
instant throttle response and
better overall performance.
It is also among the lightest
engine of its class on
the market, improving

acceleration, top speed a
handling. On top of all th
it delivers exceptional fue
economy.
“This is an engine that
easy-to-start, intuitive-to-
operate, lightweight and
fuel-efficient,” said Nicholas
Webb, senior director of
Engine Products (Aus, NZ
& Pacific). “Our goal is to
develop an intuitive product
that enhances true customer
boating experience.”
This lightweight outboard
platform starts at just 45kg,
some 13% lighter than
the platform it replaces,
and comparable to the
existing two-stroke model in
Mercury’s outboard line-up.

UNIQUE MULTI-
FUNCTION TILLER
HANDLE
Traditionally, tiller handles
are mounted on the portside
of outboard motors for left-
hand operation. However,
Mercury research found that
a signifi cant percentage of
boaters prefer right-hand
control.
Therefore, Mercury has
created a new centre-
mounted tiller that is
adjustable horizontally

  • up to 18° to either port
    or starboard. The throttle
    grip rotation is reversible
    to provide an intuitive and

comfortable
boating experience,
regardless of driving-
hand preference.
The tiller handle is also
adjustable vertically, from
-5° to +10°, for easy reach at
the most comfortable height
for the operation. And a tilt
lock feature locks the tiller
angle at 73°, allowing the
tiller to be positioned out
of the way. Intuitive touch
points on the multi-function
tiller handle include the
forward-mounted shift lever
and stop button integrated
into the throttle grip for
easy reach.

The latest series of
Big Angry Fish will hit
Australian TV screens on 9
December – and this time
there’s an Aussie onboard.
Produced in New Zealand
and now entering its sixth
season, the show has
developed a cult following
across the ditch and in
Australia. It will be shown
at 4.30pm on Saturdays on
7mate.
Hosts Milan Radonich and
Nathan O’Hearn share epic
fishing moments (both
good and bad), stunning
scenery and amazing
wildlife, all while focusing

on their speciality – showing
people how to get big fish in
shallow water.
The sixth series features 13
episodes, with the BAF crew
at their best fishing in New
Zealand and Vanuatu.
An Aussie, Lubin Pfeiff er,
has joined the Kiwi boys,
bringing with him his
passion for chasing big,
shallow water fish and
snapper on lures, and the
elusive Murray cod.
“Lubin’s a brilliant
addition,” said Radonich. “He
really knows his stuff and
his piscatorial passion is
highly infectious.”
