Biona Falafel Balls, £3.99 for
220g, Ocado (ocado.com)
These falafels are a gorgeous
golden colour but, sadly, the
texture is quite dry and crumbly.
The seasoning is nice but the
flavour is somewhat bland.

Gosh! Moroccan Spiced
Falafel, £1.50 for 200g,
Asda (groceries.asda.com)
Roughly chopped chickpeas give
these falafels an attractive rustic
texture, while the addition of
red peppers, apricots and dates
impart a good sweet flavour. They
are also
nicely
seasoned
with
some
aromatic
herbs and
spices.

Cauldron Middle Eastern
Vegetarian Falafels, £1.50
for 200g, Tesco (tesco.com)
Packed with chunky pieces of
chickpeas, these have a rich
aroma of spices and coriander but
the flavour is quite delicate
and not as punchy as
you might expect.

Plant Kitchen Sweet Potato
Falafels, £6 for 250g, Marks &
Spencer (marksandspencer.com)
The sweet potato gives these
patty-style falafels a lovely
sweetness and texture. They
are also perfectly seasoned with
herbs and spices, but in
comparison with the
others, are quite pricey.
