PRODUCT GUIDE

Motor controller
As a highly flexible device, the
Axiomatic (Mississauga, Ontario,
Canada) motor controller features CAN
bus and onboard I/O that offer rugged
performance
and high
efficiency
for off-high-
way ma-
chine and
lift equip-
ment power
systems. The motor controller drives a
unidirectional or bi-directional brushed
dc motor up to 150A (continuous op-
eration). The controller accepts up to
eight command signal inputs and drives
two solenoids up to 2.5A as well as two
relays. There is protective isolation be-
tween drive and processing circuits. A
fully sealed IP67 form factor with op-
eration from -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F)
and vibration compliance ensures
strong performance. Designed to inter-
face with 12 V or 24 V battery power,
the motor controller is suitable for
heavy machines. Many control-profile
parameters are user-configurable using
the Axiomatic Electronic Assistant.

Ethernet connectors
Designed to withstand harsh environ-
ments, TE Connectivity’s (Berwyn, Pa.)
two new Ethernet solutions meet the
tough requirements of the industrial
and commercial transportation (ICT)

industry. The HDSCS connector series
and MCON Ethernet connectors join
TE’s portfolio of products that are resis-
tant to dust, dirt and moisture, while
withstanding severe vibration and me-
chanical shock. TE’s Ethernet connec-
tors provide robust full duplex, wire-to-
wire connections for multifunction dis-
plays, telematics, telemetry units, info-
tainment modules, camera systems,
radars/lidars, on-board diagnosis sys-

Rugged 5u server

The Crystal Group’s (Hiawatha, Iowa)
RS5904F Rugged 5u server is designed
specifically for autonomous semi-truck
OEMs to reduce development time and
streamline systems integration while im-
proving driving safety without sacrificing
reliability. The RS5904F combines com-
pute power, data-handling capabilities,
and storage capacity in a compact, rug-
ged solution that can withstand harsh

conditions and environments, including
potholes, collisions and extreme tempera-
tures that could cause traditional systems
to fail. Available in custom or off-the-shelf
configurations, the RS5904F high-perfor-
mance computer optimizes the latest
Intel processors, high-capacity DDR4
memory, and thermal management in a
rugged chassis. The RS5904F 5U rugged
server features include front-to-back or
back-to-front airflow cooling available,
10-32-V dc input power, and up to 384GB
DDR4 memory.

Actuator sizing and
selection tool
Thomson Industries (Radford, Va.) of-
fers a new self-service, linear actuator

Gyro inclinometer
The new J1939 inclinometer from
Trombetta (Milwaukee, Wisc.) features
dual gyro-compensating angle sensors
for redundancy and enhanced accu-
racy. This solid-state (MEMs) sensor
transmits pitch, roll and blade data on
the J1939 bus and provides stability
even in harsh heavy equipment appli-
cations. User-configurable mounting
orientation, zero-axis, polarity, sensi-
tivity, and
CAN address
make this de-
vice flexible to
use in several
industries.
Trombetta
designed the
dual gyro-compensating angle sensor
to be IP67 rated with a sealed enclo-
sure that features an integrated auto-
motive style connector.

tems, media access controllers and
more. The HDSCS Ethernet connectors
are designed to avoid quality problems,
while reducing manufacturing and ser-
vice cost. The MCON Ethernet connec-
tors can be used to connect external
cameras and sensing modules to im-
prove operator situation awareness.
This benefit enhances safety using
Ethernet differential signal transmission
communication protocols.

online siz-
ing and
selection
tool. By
complet-
ing a self-
guided,
interactive
series of
questions
that taps into the application engineer-
ing knowledge base of Thomson
Industries experts, the company claims
design engineers can quickly, accu-
rately and easily find a suitable solu-
tion. The self-service tool offers a
broader range of feature options than
what users might otherwise find from
searching on their own. Features of the
online sizing and selection tool include
real-time adjustment and recalculating
per user-defined parameters, auto-
population of product pricing based on
physical location, downloadable CAD-
ready 3D models, and an expedited
purchase process.
