reducing plasma-albumin formation. Albumin concentration decreases due to loss in
urine in nephrotic syndrome, chronic glomerular nephritis, diabetes, and severe
hemorrhage. Synthesis of albumin is reduced in liver disease, malnutrition, defective
digestion or malabsorption, and increased catabolism of proteins in the liver. Albu-
min levels generally parallel total protein levels, except when total protein changes
due to gamma globulins.

10.13 Precautions

  1. pH of BCG solution should be carefully adjusted and should be exactly
    4.10.05.

  2. Reading should be taken immediately after adding BCG solution to avoid
    interference of globulin.
