Have you heard of the word “musk”? It is
often used to describe scents in per fumes.
This is because people used to hunt the
musk deer for their scent glands to put in
per fumes and traditional medicines. Even
though people are banned from hunting
them now, only a small population remains.
These deer live at high altitudes across the
Himalayas and Siberia. Unlike other species
of deer, the male musk deer don’t have
antlers. Instead, they have canine teeth that
look like little tusks.

FISHING CAT
Pr ionailur us viver r inus
IUCN status:
Vulnerable

These cats are native to South and
Southeast Asia and are normally found
in marshy areas. Unlike common house
cats, the fishing cat is a fantastic swimmer
and hunts fish and other mammals to eat.
They are so rare that people thought they
might have gone extinct! This is because
poachers catch and trade cats as illegal
pets and land development has led to
decreasing marshes for them to live in.

SIBERIAN MUSK DEER
