Rajasthan bridging students-industry Divide

Rajasthan is among the top states in India in terms of number of institutions of higher learning. Given the
high number of graduates and post-graduate students being churned out of these colleges and universities,
providing meaniningful employment through industry-academia partnership is of utmost priority for the State.

Seeking to bring student fraternity and industry closer, the Rajasthan Higher and Technical Education
Department has plans to set up a placement cell in all government colleges to benefit thousands of students.

Our cover story in this special Higher Education and Human Resource Conclave, Rajasthan issue covers e
various initiatives and achievements of the Government of Rajasthan in facilitating direct employment of
students. It is an endeavour to unravel the vision, efforts and distinguish personalities behind the ongoing
big and steady transformation.

Our special story, ‘Boosting Student Employability with Internship’, explores a very important aspect of
student employability, i.e, work experience. In India, most of the graduates often find themselves in a vicious
circle while struggling to secure employment in their field of study.

In a traditional hiring system, they do not get an entry until they have work experience, and work experience
cannot be gathered unless they are hired by a company. This story discusses at length how this situation
can be changed to boost chances of students getting hired by the industry through promoting culture of
internship.

This special issue also features interviews of Kiran Maheshwari, Minister, Technical Education, Higher
Education, Sanskrit Education, Science and Technology, Government of Rajasthan; Ashok Jain, Chief Secretary,
Government of Rajasthan; Rajhuns Upadhyay, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education, Government
of Rajasthan; and Ashutosh A T Pednekar, Commissioner-College Education and Special Secretary, Higher
Education, Government of Rajasthan to get a glimpse of the future growth of higher education in the State.

Besides this, we are also carrying interviews of top university officials in Rajasthan and across India along
with edu corporate to showcase the higher education scenario in Rajasthan.

The digitalLEARNING magazine in this issue also carries the B-School Ranking to help aspiring students to
choose the right B-school for their education. It is very important for students and their parents to check
about a management institute on certain parameters and it is here that our ranking helps them by easing the
process of selecting the right institute.

The Top B-school Ranking 2017, being published for a second time, is a perception based ranking of over
300 B-schools in the country under various parameters. The public institutes have been ranked on perception
voting and the private institutes have been ranked based on analysis of available data.

We hope that this issue brings more knowledge and smiles on the faces of our readers.

Looking forward to your invaluable feedback.
