French Crepes

There’s almost no better light lunch in Paris than a freshly made
galette (made with buckwheat fl our) or crepe (white fl our),
and now a new generation of creperies are updating the city’s
off er of this pair of Breton classics with stylish new settings
and inventive garnishes. A perfect example is Bisou, a casually
chic new place in the Passage des Panoramas with a hip sea-
shack look of blonde wood and carefully sourced tabletop
accessories. This charming spot also stands out from the crowd
with the quality of the produce it uses, including gluten-free
stone-ground fl ours. Start off with the Popeye Power, a galette
fi lled with fava beans, avocado, homemade pickled red onions,
feta cheese, baby spinach, poached egg, and Salinu (Corsican
hazelnut salt) or maybe the Marius and Fanny (zucchini, garlic
and parsley, smoked ham, goat cheese, bacon bites, fi g chutney,
poached egg, olive oil), and then succumb to one of their
dessert crepes. Regulars love the Olala with ice-cream with
vanilla from Bora-Bora, chocolate chips, homemade salted-
butter caramel sauce and almonds, but the oddly named
Cookie n’Crime with cookies, artisanal dark chocolate and
homemade whipped cream, is a treat, too. – A.L.
