8.4.1 One Village One School Stage


China has undertaken several major realignments of school location since the
funding of the New China in 1949. The earlier reforms occurred under the frame-
work of the planned economy that shaped China during this time. The political
characterization of the 1950s was “revolution for the common people (communi-
tisation)”, with the goal of promoting the work of illiteracy elimination and the
