I hope that the papers in this volume will help in redefining what some
consider symbolic interaction and show that a variety of research methods
and topics fit under the umbrella of symbolic interaction. The next volume
(45) with papers on interactions of conflict and cooperation will show a
similar variety of topics and methods.
