Sure you have nerves of steel, but how about getting
some iron pumped into your muscles? A new form
of iron yoga, Steelfl exx, developed by Fitness Expert
and Nutritionist, Neeraj Mehta, packs a solid punch to
the time-honoured institution of yoga

  • Though Steelfl exx is extremely
eff ective, it should to be
    practiced under the guidance
    of a professional. Also, for
    a beginner, a modifi cation
    in the routine is highly
    recommendable.

  • Never compromise with the
    technique to perform additional
    repetition.

  • Don’t use too heavy weights
    that can lead to injuries.

  • Too many repetitions of one
particular stretch is not at all
    advisable.

  • You can modify the stretch
according to your fi tness level
    or any other personal challenge
    if any.

  • Never hold the breath, while
    performing the stretch.

Caution is a must

f traditional yoga is not your calling,
or your body is craving for an
advanced level of physical health,
then there’s something enthusing,
you could set not just your hands but
body on. Ever since its reappearance,
over the last three-four decades, as an
effi cacious medium to achieve overall
fi tness and wellbeing, yoga has been under a
continual spell of evolution.
The latest to join the ‘yoga-redefi ned’
bandwagon is Steelfl exx, an advanced level of
iron yoga. Living up to its heavy duty name,
this newly developed form of yoga is a step
ahead in iron and power yoga. Steelfl exx is
performed through an extreme stretching
that takes yoga to another level of fl exibility.
To put it simply, Neeraj Mehta, the founder of
this registered regime, Steelfl exx, describes it
as, “An incorporation of yoga’s dynamic and
static stretching, with the use of dumbbells
and other props, to stretch targeted areas.”
Perhaps, to a certain extent, Steelfl exx
is not meant for people who have opened
their fi tness diary yet. It is highly recommend
for those, who have lunged to a certain
stage in fi tness. It can also be classifi ed as
an amalgamation of sorts, as it is a new
dimension in the skill of combining weight
training exercises using light dumbbells with
simple yoga poses.
A high point of this regime is; when
you are working out in the gym or at home
with machines or free weights, you are
usually targeting one specifi c muscle group
at a time. However, Steelfl exx provides the
benefi ts of yoga and weight training in one
workout, and is as challenging and effective
as a full body workout.

Multiple facets

  • Iron yoga helps in increasing the
lean muscle mass that leads to an
    improved metabolism that aids weight
    loss.

  • With Steelfl exx, you can hone the
range of motions between the joints,
empowering you to bend or shape
    your body in any direction.

  • Regular practice also build ups overall
body balance, limiting the chances of
    slipping, falling or getting injured.

  • With this form of yoga, one can
    also enhance muscular endurance,
especially in the core of body that
    increases functional independence.
Steelfl exx leaves enough room for
    improvisation. One can add different
types of poses, depending on one’s
fi tness level and strength. The weights
used in this technique, pushes one to
go to extreme limits allowing overall
fl exibility to be increased four times
faster, while also increasing the pliability,
and lubrication in the muscles. “With
Steelfl exx, one’s muscles can grow faster
as compared to normal weight training
regime,” points out Mehta. Also in
addition, with muscle contraction, there is
an augmented fl ow of blood with oxygen
in comparison to weight training, and the
    muscles develop and grow faster.

There is no specifi c time in a
day for iron yoga, but yes it’s
essential to warm up before
starting a workout session, and
after performing some light
stretches, follow the actual iron
yoga or Steelfl exx postures. It is
a complete workout for the body,
and the results vary from person
to person, depending on how one
performs the stretches.
