mmaculately dressed with not a hair out of place
and an unmistakable glow to her skin, Nisha
Javeri looks every bit the lifestyle connoisseur
she is. As the owner of the beautiful standalone
day spa, Myrah Spa in Mumbai, her clientele
includes the who’s who of the country. Actors
such as Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Alia
Bhatt and Sushant Singh Rajput are regulars at
Myrah and vouch for the treatments offered.
However, Nisha remains unfazed with all the
success and is as humble as she can be. As she
explains, “Owning a spa has nothing to do with
your status because there are times when we
have had staff related issues, and I am literally
at the reception answering phone calls. Over
the years, I have even made bills for clients,
answered phones and also checked in and
checked out our guests.”

Road to success
A keen fi tness enthusiast, when the time came
to establish her own business, launching her
own spa was the most natural choice for Nisha.
Once the decision was made, and the property
selected, she dived into the spa business
heads on. Arming herself with some of the
most renowned degrees in beauty and spa
such as CIDESCO and CIBTAC, she empowered
herself with knowledge on the workings of the
body, the skin, various therapies, facials, the
endocrine, and also the usage of different types
of equipment. “There have been some snags
on the way such as staff related issues as the
attrition rate in this industry is very high. It is
disheartening when after such rigorous training,
we lose our key people to some upcoming spa,
which may or may not exist later,” says Nisha.
“However, our effort for the employees remains
professional,” she adds.

Sharing the wealth of her knowledge
Coming to the subject of the training, even
trained therapists must undergo a compulsory
stipulated training period. Also, to make the
learning easy, standard operating procedures
are documented in a video format allowing the
therapists to learn the therapy strokes effi ciently.
When it’s time for the therapists to be reviewed
and put on the fl oor, Nisha, tests them herself.
If during the course of a massage, she fi nds
them going wrong somewhere, Nisha is quick to
jump off the massage bed, don a bathrobe and
demonstrate on the very same therapist the right
way of going about the massage.
