rom the moment you
turn onto the steep,
hidden driveway that
leads to Soulitude in the
Himalayas, you know
you’re in for a treat. The terraced
gardens are resplendent with flowers in
a myriad colours. The two cottages, with
their green gabled roofs, blend perfectly
into the surroundings. The Himalayas
are laid out like a canvas in front of
you, hidden in patches by clouds in
different shapes and sizes. And in the
far distance, the Panchachuli peek shyly
from behind the Middle Himalayas.
The boutique property offers 10
rooms, each with picture windows that
open out to the view. The design is such
that it minimises heating requirements;
the windows retain heat. Solar panels
on the roofs provide for much of the
electricity and hot water consumed, and
rain water is harvested for gardening

and tending to the orchards. Efforts

have also been made to reduce noise

and air pollution by limiting the use of

generators, making Soulitude the ideal

location for some guilt free relaxation,

rest and fun. The delicious homelike

food is the icing on the cake.
