Housed in the former residence of the
maharaja of Tehri-Garhwal, Ananda
in the Himalayas aims to bring about
a change in modern-day lifestyles to
include the traditional Indian regimens
of Ayurveda, yoga and Vedanta. The
philosophy is to create a space where an
individual can retreat to seek harmony
and balance, and become one with
the surroundings. The 24,000-square-
feet Ananda Spa offers over 80
treatments in 24 treatment rooms.
Qualified physicians and therapists
create personalised therapies based on
individual needs. Treatments include
destressing, detoxing and cleansing,
relaxing, anti-ageing and weight-loss
therapies; guidance in nutrition and
exercise is also provided. All therapies
are performed using the spa’s own
range of oils, muds, clays and gels. The
spa also offers the ‘Visiting Masters
Programme’, during which teachers,
therapists and healers from around the
world hold special workshops, and offer
private sessions to guests as well.
