Logitech Lift Vertical Ergonomic Mouse

Get the upper hand

find it (www.snipca.com/41689).
It took us around a week to adapt to
the shape of the vertical mouse, having
previously used a more traditional model,
but once we’d got used to it, we found it
to be one of the most comfortable mice
we’ve ever used. Vertical mice put your
wrist into a neutral rest position, which
reduces muscle use and minimises aches.
Like most Logitech wireless peripherals,
the Lift Vertical works without any need
for configuration. However, if you want
to make the most of its more advanced
features, you can install the Logitech
Options software, which lets you
customise the buttons, adjust the mouse
speed, tweak the battery-level indicators
and more. The ability to configure
different shortcuts for each program you
use is particularly welcome.
Logitech says the Lift Vertical has a

Looking at the TerraMaster D4-300,
you’d be forgiven for assuming it’s a
network-attached storage (NAS) device.
It’s not. It’s actually a DAS: a direct-access
storage device. The main difference is that
you don’t connect a DAS to an Ethernet
port on your router. Instead, you connect
it directly to a USB port on your PC, as
you would an external hard drive. While
this means you can’t share its storage
with other devices on your network, you
can still load it with up to four internal
hard drives of up to 18TB each, in effect
giving your PC up to 72TB of external
storage. Note that it comes without any

drives, so you need to add the price of
those, unless you have some spares
kicking around.
The four drive bays are easily
accessible from the front of the unit
and accept both 2.5in and 3.5in drives.
This means you can install either
mechanical drives or SSDs, depending
on what you plan to do with the device.
Next to the drive bays are a power button
and some lights that show which bays
have drives installed. We tested it with
SSDs and found that it transferred data
at a steady 500MB/s over its USB
connection.
The most obvious use for such a device
would be to back up your files. The
system can be configured as a RAID
backup, which creates multiple copies of
your files on more than one drive, so if

The Lift Vertical is Logitech’s most
affordable ergonomic mouse. At £70,
it’s £25 cheaper than the company’s
flagship model, the MX Vertical (£95,
http://www.snipca.com/41688).
It’s 71mm tall – though that’s 7.5mm
smaller than the MX Vertical’s 78.5mm –
and is shaped like a crashing wave, with
the main buttons and vertical scroll
wheel on the right at a 57-degree
angle, and the forward and back buttons
on the left. A left-handed version is
also available for the same price, though

video editing, it’s great for that, too.
