LOTUS ELETRE

£TBC, lotuscars.com

Lotus already appeared to have fully
embraced its pivot to electric with the super-
sporty Emira and Evija, but the Eletre sees it
spinning completely on its axis. This is what it
calls a Hyper SUV: you can rip it at 1 60mph
and hit 60 in under three seconds, but you can
also fit your entire family in it and drive for 370
miles. That’s some significant staying power,
granted to it not only by a large bank of
batteries but by active aerodynamics – and this
appears to be the first electric SUV built on an
800V platform, meaning it’ll top itself off
almost as quickly as it’ll hit top speed. There’s
retractable LiDAR and self-driving functionality
if you’re willing to risk it, almost endless glass,
and a super-luxury interior with displays in
front and rear.

T 3 SAYS: This beauty might be a bit too special
to even drive.

ACER PREDATOR ORION

5000

£ 1 , 999 , acer.com

It’s the end of an era. Chip shortages? Crypto
miner hoarding? Done. Prices are moving back
down towards RRP, and the concept of actually
upgrading one’s PC (or switching it out for a
new one) looks a lot less like it’s going to cost
you a kidney. At two grand Acer’s newest
mass-market desktop may skirt the edge of
affordability, but not that’s not the result of
gouging. It’s because it’s specced up to the
eyeballs: there’s a 1 2th-gen Core i 7 processor,
a full-bore RTX 3080 GPU, PCIe gen 4 SSDs
and a full 6 4GB of DDR5 RAM packed inside
an RGB-addled case equipped with Acer’s
Frostblade 2 .0 fans. And if the price is too
steep, the 3000 (with an RTX 3070 and DDR
instead) is a positive bargain at £1,199.

T 3 SAYS: Welcome back, gaming PCs. We’ve
missed you.
