GARMIN D 2 MACH 1

From £1,099, garmin.com

We’d imagine that, despite carrying a massive
package of smart pre-, post- and in-flight
functions designed to help you track your
sorties and keep airborne, the D 2 Mach 1 ’s
market for actual pilots might be relatively
limited. But Garmin’s aviator smartwatch is
certainly going to get some attention from
those who want the classiest-looking wristwear
possible, and it doesn’t lack for other
functionality. It’s a solid fitness watch, with
Garmin’s latest sensor package and its new
Health Snapshot feature, which allows you to
capture all of your vitals at once if you’re
feeling iffy. Again, though, it’s about those
looks. The classy metal bezel, the option of
leather or titanium linked straps, the massive
AMOLED screen. It’s a package which looks
impressive by any metric – but it’ll cost you.

T 3 SAYS: Almost makes us want to buy a plane.

B&O BEOPLAY EX

£349, bang-olufsen.com

Stems aren’t just an affectation. There’s a good
reason so many true wireless ear buds have
dangly bits: it allows engineers to move much
of the secondary hardware out of the way,
leaving extra room in the main cavity to
concentrate on sound. B&O has done exactly
that here, offering the Beoplay EX buds a pair
of huge 9 .2mm drivers, the largest the
company has ever put into true wireless
headphones, while reducing the size of the
housing to improve the in-ear fit. The company
reckons that means extra bass and depth, and
a greater opportunity to tune the EX’s adaptive
ANC so as not to obscure your audio. These
are IP57 waterproofed, pack Bluetooth 5 .2, and
run for six hours on a charge – all that remains
now is to get them in our ears.

T 3 SAYS: If the sound’s there, we think these
will be AirPods rivals.
