tread wear, as well as making the
engine work harder to compensate for
the lack of optimum driving traction.
Why pass up on free tyre inflation
at the petrol station, or would you
rather a hefty top-up at the pump?

Anticipate traffic
Should you find yourself in a viable
situation, where traffic movement
is fluid and there is enough space to
change lanes, anticipate the general
behaviour of the traffic, such as merging
traffic and start-stop traffic. Be fluid and
be defensive, read the driving patterns
of cars that are two to three car lengths
ahead of you. If traffic shows signs of
slowing, let off the gas pedal and let the
car glide naturally. Not only do you save
petrol by easing off the pedal, you also
save yourself quite a fair bit on brake
pads, since you do not need to stomp on
these at the very last minute, which also
saves you quite a bit on rim cleaners, if
you share the same habit of personally
washing your own car, like me.
