WHEELS ASIA MARCH 2016

EDITOR’S

NOTE

As the flow of time changes, so do readers’ buying
demographics. Having noted that, we have spent
good time harvesting the collective brains here at
Wheels Asia, to squeeze out every last drop of creative
juice to keep up with the everchanging times.
The past few months have seen some pretty
flushed and hectic faces here in the office. With the
recent completion of the annual Car Buyers’ Guide,
we have also pulled extreme late-nighters to prepare
for our latest edition of Wheels Asia, evident from
this copy that you are reading.
Compiled dutifully in this renewed issue of Wheels
Asia, is the hard work and effort of the team that has
spent good time brainstorming, deciding and penning
the choicest spread of content that you are about to
read, for the very first time in Wheels Asia’s history. To
ensure that everything is properly set for the party, we
have had red-eyed nights, more than often, but willing,
for the sake of passion and enjoyment.
Apart from the exciting and sophisticated look,
Wheels Asia is also incorporating for the first time,
two-wheeler content; bicycles. The amount of
people taking up cycling as a way of life has grown
exponentially through these few years. Even more so
for the serious biking individuals, who are looking for
more than just a way of keeping fit. Events that involve
cycling, such as duathlons, triathlons are becoming
increasingly popular with many locals.
Cars and bikes have a simple correlation, and that is
that both can have some “wheeling” good fun.

While motorsports is pretty serious business with
fast cars, so do bike race riders who have trained their
entire lives for this. That said, even race car drivers,
such as McLaren-Honda’s Jenson Button, cycle
regularly apart from the usual gym regime to keep fit
for speeds in excess of 250km/h. No easy task, we’re
pretty sure about that.
Having said so much and getting all excited about
our latest issue of Wheels Asia, we bring you the
Legend from Honda, a sedan that packs almost every
sophisticated driving technology that Honda has
developed so far, sans the Formula 1 stuff. We also
test drive a myriad of great cars, such as the pristine
and renewed Jaguar XF, the value-for-money-conti
Volvo V40 T2 and two SUV types, the compact BMW
X1 and the monstrous Mercedes Benz GLE450 AMG.
In our Mod Job segment for this month, we change
the chic and trendy perception of the awesome MINI
with one that frequents the circuit more than cafes!
We speak to a key individual behind the revolution
of the in-car DVR (digital video recorder) to find out
how has it changed driving here in Singapore, as
well as test a pretty interesting device that promises
to keep you alert and awake should you encounter
food coma while driving.
Trust us when we say it, you’ll enjoy every bit of this
refreshed copy of Wheels Asia. Keeping “Wheeling”
on and stay frosty!
