Abacus Dubai Counts On Robe

Extended NEXT-proaudio Warranty

DUBAI: Founded in 2010, by Vimal Kumar,
Abacus is an equipment rental and technical
producti on company based in Dubai which is
very acti ve within the live events scene in the
country.

Its lighti ng division was started two years
ago with an immediate investment in Robe
moving lights with the purchase of 16 x
MMX Spots and 16 x LEDWash 1200s. Before
Abacus, Vimal worked on other business
ventures in Dubai – he’s been a resident
for 11 years - and previous to that, ran a
portf olio of businesses in Bangalore, India.

It was his astute entrepreneurial eye that
spott ed a need for effi cient, high-quality,

fl exible producti on and technology based

soluti ons providers in the UAE, and so he

launched Abacus. “Dubai is a very business

friendly environment,” he commented. It was

a smart move, as – in spite of the obvious

economic challenges back in 2009 - today

they are busy and sti ll growing with 35 full

ti me employees covering around 300 events

throughout the ‘season’, and with a raft of

sati sfi ed clients.

Director of Sales, Nidheesh Hari explained

that Abacus provides full producti on for

conferences, exhibiti ons, product launches

• large and small - award ceremonies, and
  small to medium music concerts, off ering
  including lighti ng, audio and video. They off er

design services or work with the client’s own

design team and concepts – depending on

the set-up.

They assessed all the opti ons carefully before

choosing Robe, and also sought advice from

other industry professionals, as committi ng

to a moving light brand was a big move.

“Robe has an excellent reputati on, the price

and the terms are good, and we know that

we have superb service and support from

the Robe Middle East operati on,” explained

Vimal.

The whole company is delighted with the

decision. The crew and technicians all love

working with the fi xtures, and having the

Robe technology on-board means that they

can add great creati ve lighti ng to any project.

“The MMX Spots and the LEDWashes are

very bright and so small – four units are

enough to make any reasonably sized room

look beauti ful and atmospheric,” enthused

Nidheesh.

Recent events have included lighti ng the

Abu Dhabi Airport Authority Gala Dinner

at the Aloft Hotel in the city; an awards

summit event for HP in the Madinat Jumeirah

Arena, Dubai, and a gala dinner for Fujitsu at

Atlanti s, The Palm, Dubai.

Abacus has also recently made major new

purchases of d&b audio, and more lighti ng

investments are planned in the next year.

INTERNATIONAL: From January 2015,

NEXT-proaudio has set a new period of

warranty on all speaker systems from the

standard two-year warranty to fi ve years.

“The decision to extend the warranty

period refl ects our confi dence in the

quality of NEXT-proaudio and this gives

our customers an additi onal argument to

trust on the reliability of our products”, said

Andre Correia, NEXT-proaudio’s assistant

manager.

The NEXT-proaudio warranty on the

electronic products (such as power

amplifi ers, digital signal processors, ...)

remains in eff ect for two year from the date

of purchase.

To have the fi ve year warranty, the NEXT-

proaudio product must be purchased

from an authorized dealer, distributor or

representati ve.
