Barco projectors create visual spectacular

wowed audiences across the world

in Visions of Vienna – a multi -media arti sti c

collaborati on between the Vienna Tourist

Board and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra

(SSO). SSO live in concert was combined with

visuals celebrati ng the arti sti c and musical

heritage of Vienna from Ample Projects and

projected onto the roof or “sails” of the

Sydney Opera House and broadcast to music

lovers across the world in a live web-stream.

“Having worked with Michael Hassett and his

expert projecti on design team already back in

the 90’s, we knew we could turn to TDC again

for another unforgett able visual spectacular.

TDC are a dream-team to work with,”

enthused Astrid Mulholland-Licht, Director of

the Austrian Nati onal Tourist Offi ce in Sydney.

“During design, TDC’s team of creati ve and

technical experts created a content template

so that Ample Projects and the Sydney

Opera House Recording and Broadcast

Studios were all working from the same

plan. This also helped to save ti me on site.

We worked closely with the Sydney Opera

House producti on team and other suppliers

to overcome any technical issues,” explained

Olin Winton, Technical Manager at TDC.

Fourteen cameras captured a performance

by the SSO of glorious Viennese music.

Viennese-inspired 3D animati ons designed

by Ample Projects celebrated the Austrian

capital’s rich arti sti c heritage.

Projecti on of arti sti c content posed several

technical design challenges including building

size, long throw distances, a busy Sydney

Harbour port in the projecti on path, and

multi ple microwave broadcast links. TDC

“Depth of fi eld and maintaining a sharp focus across

multi ple stacked projectors can be a challenge but that was

solved using a well thought-out projecti on plan!”
