PR Lighting Has A Taste For Egypt
EGYPT
“..had no problem in convincing the LD that PR Lighti ng
fi xtures would fulfi l all his requirements..”
- Hamad Arafa, Hi-Lights Egypt
H
i-Lights Egypt are using more than
800 fi xtures from the PR Lighti ng
catalogue to create the ambience on
one of the Egypt's most popular TV cookery
programmes: The Taste Egypt.
The largest rental company in Egypt, Hi-
Lights became involved from the outset,
working closely with both SYNC-MEDIA, the
producti on company, and lighti ng designer
Fouad Haddad of Hand Made Image (HMI).
The programme is a worldwide franchise
and although the producti on format had
been pre-arranged, according to Hi-Lights
Egypt’s Hamad Arafa his company “had no
problem in convincing the LD that PR Lighti ng
fi xtures would fulfi l all his requirements —
parti cularly aft er undergoing camera tests to
demonstrate colour temperature, CRI etc.”
The schedule of equipment deployed on the
set — which was built in one of the principle
studios of Al Nahar TV — included 80 of
PR Lighti ng’s recently launched LED Studio
3200D zoom Fresnels (with barndoors),
which had been purpose-designed for the
TV studio environment. It incorporates a
high-power 200W LED light source, with high
luminous effi ciency and high colour rendering
index, as well as wide beam angle.
Elsewhere the set features no fewer than 500
x XPar 336-W (with 36 x 3W white and amber
LEDs), as well as 24 x PR 5000 high power
discharge spots, 120 x XR 200 Beam, which
produces a parallel, high output laser-like
‘pencil’ beam from just a 189W lamp source,
and 72 x XLED 1037, containing 37 x 10 W
RGBW (4-in-1) LEDs , with a wide beam angle
ranging from 13 to 52°.
Other small LED fi xtures were used for other
areas of the set, such as inside the kitchens.
The show is recorded in front of a live studio
audience and broadcast at prime ti me in
front of millions of viewers.
