Th ese eleven journalists have been killed in Mexico this year, at the rate of nearly one
a week, in one of the deadliest years on record for the media in the country.
Mexico is the most dangerous place in the world for the press. Journalists
are being targeted by Mexico’s drug cartels, as well as by local politicians and
government offi cials, with impunity.
Th e Mexican government must uphold a free press by condemning violence
against journalists and reinforcing protection of the media.
Mexico is ranked #127/180 in the world for press freedom. See the full ranking at RSF.org.
