andpinchhitwhenneeded.

ClubinBethesda,Maryland.Forthepast
21 years,DickandCécileenjoyedwinters
inIndianWells,California,wherehewasa
memberofShadowMountainClubinPalm
Desert.DicksangwiththeBarbershop
ChorusofDC.Hewasanactivevolunteer
withnumerousorganizations,includingthe
schoolshischildrenattended,LittleFlower
Church,CubScouts,LaQuintaArtsFestival,
andTheLivingDesert.
Throughouthislife,Dick’sbeautifulclear
blueeyessparkledwithjoyandreflected
hishonesty,mirthandgoodnature.Dick
willberememberedasacheerful,humble,
hardworkingpersonofintegrityandatrue
gentleman.Heaimedtoliftothersuprather
thanspeakofhisownmerits.Hekeptahap-
pyattitudetotheend.Helovedhisfriends
andwaslovedandrespectedbythosewho
hadthegoodfortunetohaveknownhim.

tofightforcivilrights.In1984,heandoth-
erpastorswerearrestedwhileprotesting
apartheidoutsidetheSouthAfricanembas-
sy.EdwasactiveintheInterfaithCoalition
AgainstDomesticandSexualViolenceand
inavarietyofinterfaithinitiativesagainst
gunviolence.Inthe1980’s, heworkedwith
localchurcheswhowerestrugglingtocome
totermswithhomosexuality.Heinvested
twodecadeshelpingtogrowKoreanand
TaiwanesePresbyteriancongregationsin
theUnitedStates.
WhenEdwasabletotaketimefromthe
demandsofhisworklife,hewashappi-
estbeingwithhisfamily,especiallyouton
thewaterinJamestown,RhodeIsland.Ed
issurvivedbyhisfivechildrenandtheir
spouses,andfourteengrandchildrenand
