Taiwanese street dessert

arrives in Singapore

DESSERT STORY HAS LAUNCHED a brand new dessert, the peanut candy ice
cream roll, which originates from Taiwan’s famous night markets. The peanut
ice cream roll looks just like a spring roll but instead of stewed vegetables, is
filled with ice cream, peanut candy shavings and coriander. Dessert Story
boasts authentic tastes with their rolls with their use of imported peanut
brittle and traditional wooden shaving block from Taiwan. Diners can choose
between two flavours of ice cream as well that will tickle local taste buds –
coconut or yam. Apart from the rolls, Dessert Story has also introduced duo
ice, a shaved ice dessert that is also popular at Taiwan’s night markets.
Choose between mango and coconut, or strawberry and yoghurt on a
sweltering hot day. Drop by soon as the peanut ice cream rolls are only
available till the end of May.

BEATS THE
BUFFET CAR
Train dining usually means
a meagre sandwich and tea
sullied with UHT milk, but
a new Dorset restaurant in a
converted vintage rail carriage
offers something rather better.
The Station Kitchen serves the
finest local produce in a
stationary passenger coach
built in 1911 (station.kitchen).

BUSTED
FLUSH
We’ll never wrap our heads
around the concept of dining
in converted public toilets,
arguably now a trend. The
Attendant in London’s
Fitzrovia goes so far as to
seat diners at counters set
within former urinals of a
Victorian-era facility
(the-attendant.com).
