SPRING 2017

HOW OLD

ARE YOUR

CUSTOMERS?

Let’s capture and expend the

market our businesses need!

A

recent survey has revealed
just how the British public
spend their money each
month, with respondents from
age groups 18-30 years old, 31-
years old, 46-60 years old and
61+.

Key findings include:

b Those aged 18 to 30 spend
just as much on bills as they
do on eating & drinking out
and fashion
b Bills take over for those
aged 31 to 45, taking up
57% of their monthly salary
b A quarter of the monthly
salary for those aged 46 to
60 goes on leisure activities
b Those aged 61+ are
financially better off than
any other age group

WHO SPENDS THE MOST
ON FOOD AND DRINK?
3,389* Britons aged 18 were
questioned on how much of their
income they spent each month
on a range of different types of
outgoing; from bills and savings
through to leisure activities,
fashion and eating and drinking
out.

*The team at http://www.BettingTips4You.com
conducted the research as part of an
ongoing study into Britons and their
finances. 3,389 Britons aged 18 were
questioned

WHAT DO THE
RESULTS MEAN
FOR OUR INDUSTRY?
We were surprised to see that the
youngest group, those 18 to 30,
are most similar to those over 61
years old who are most likely to
have retired. Although it makes
sense as they both have the most
amount of spare time on their
hands. Between the ages of 31
and 60 is when we’re typically
most family and career orientated,
so it’s no surprise that that’s when
we focus most on our bills, our
family and putting money into our
savings.

FACT
This means that these two age
groups: 18-30 and 61+, are
key ages to focus on. While it’s
difficult to please everyone, we
have discovered the important
factors that these two age groups
consider important, and pleasing
them is easier than you think!
