Indulgent treatments and e ective products work hand in hand at Taj Salon

The splendid Taj Salon housed at the iconic

Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai offers effective

treatments that are fit for royalty

and the Gateway of India,

The Taj Mahal Palace,

Mumbai is one of the most celebrated

hotels in the country. Every time I

walk down her corridors, the hotel’s

illustrious past shines through and

never ceases to fascinate me. This time

however, my visit to the grand property

is for some much needed downtime at

the Taj Salon. Located in the Palace

Wing, the award-winning salon

first opened its doors in 1940. It was

here that the grooming for Madame

Pompadour’s Fashion Night, the first

fashion show in the country, took

place. As you can imagine, this fact has

not only piqued my interest, but also

raised my expectations.

I decide to start with a facial. After

a thorough diagnosis, the therapist

recommends the ‘Anti-Gravity Facial

Ritual’, which has been designed

by the Taj Salon in association with

Thalgo, using products from their

Ultimate Time Solution product

range. Starting with a cleansing touch,

the facial includes light toning and

deep exfoliation. This is followed by a

stimulating massage that works on my

epidermis and dermis as well as the

facial muscles to reactivate skin cells.

After the application of a mask and

some finishing touches, the treatment

is complete. Although it’s the first time

I’ve experienced the facial, I can sense a

softness as well as a glow to my skin.

Finally, it’s time for the ‘Taj

Signature Royal Indulgence Body

Ritual’, which starts with a scrub

made of hand pounded dry fruits and

spices including almonds, walnuts,

pistachios and saffron. After this

divine smelling scrub, it’s time for a

‘Rose Salt Scrub’. This is followed

by an indulgent bath with milk, rose

petals and mogra flowers. Then, it’s

time for my favourite part of the

therapy – a massage with almond oil,

which efficiently takes care of my sore

muscles. The luxurious therapy is

rounded off with a very cooling wrap

made of pure sandalwood and saffron.

Post the indulgent treatment, my

skin looks radiant and I am glad to say

that the therapy lives up to its name

and is, indeed, a royal indulgence.
