Balanced State
The Langham, Hong Kong opens new
wellness sanctuary Chuan Body + Soul
based on the Chinese philosophy of the
five elements – wood, fire, earth, metal and
water. Like its more sizeable sister outlet in
Mongkok, treatments combine traditional
Chinese massage techniques with private
label essential oils to restore balance via
a range of pampering massages, facial
treatments and foot therapies.

HONG KONG

Like Tinseltown
Following a 30-month restoration, the Galle
Face Hotel unveils Spa L’Occitane En Provence
that revives the hotel’s glamorous Hollywood
association over the past 153 years since its
opening. Featuring eight therapy rooms, a nail
spa, Jacuzzis and dry saunas, the spa overlooks
the Indian Ocean with a lush outdoor area with
daybeds and tropical plants. Treatments are
based on natural ingredients and water and
energy use is limited where possible.

COLOMBO

Most Eggcellent
Known for its Arctic climate and an average temperature of -2.2°C, the Swedish city
welcomes a brand new sauna experience. Consisting of 69 separate pieces, Solar
Egg is an art installation inspired by the contrasting and dynamic surroundings of
the city’s iron ore fields. The mobile cocoons are five metres high and four metres
wide with a shell of gold-plated stainless steel, and heat is provided by a heart-
shaped wood-fire burner inside the oval sauna.
