As part of Swire Hotels’ green initiatives, EAST Hong
Kong has unveiled a sustainable Urban Garden and
an organic waste disposal system. The new patch of
green produces a range of pesticide- and chemical-
free crops, such as basil, chilli, lemon, parsley and
peppers, which are transformed into delicious dishes
and cocktails at the restaurant and bar. In addition,
the hotel has introduced Gomixer to help reduce
food waste. It incorporates a biological process to
turn leftover food into an odourless, nutrient-rich
water, which can then be safely disposed of through
