The TAO Music and Underwater
Festival programme leads with a
guiding principle: “Treat the Earth
well: It was not given to you by your
parents, it was loaned to you by your
children. We do not inherit the Earth
from our ancestors, we borrow it from
our children.”
This wisdom, proffered by the
Lakota people, imparts our duty
to protect our one and only Earth.
The TAO Festival has translated this
message through the most universal of
languages: music.
In the build-up to ADEX Singapore –
confronting climate change and running
from April 7–9, 2017 – the TAO Festival
in magnificent Koh Tao, Thailand, is
HigHligHts
leading the way in creating awareness
about climate change through their
vibrant artist lineup, and green,
eco-conscious festival vibes. Before
and during the committed ecological
festival, the organisers are taking steps
to reduce the island’s carbon footprint.
Festival-goers can look forward
to an exhilarating mix of music and
integrated visual arts promoting
environmental sustainability.
Set in an island paradise, this one-
of-a-kind festival is hosting a range of
renowned artists, such as Rasmee Isan
Soul and Srirajah Rockers, and visual
artists from Europe such as Yukijung
and Monsieur Lupin – just some of
the acts in the colourful lineup.A Universal Language
In “Waste is Art”, festival-goers
will have the opportunity to watch
Portuguese street artist, Bordalo2,
create unique sculptures made entirely
from waste.
Drawing on the ecological expertise
of Xavier Colombet from Tsatsa House,
the festival has implemented an
environmentally-friendly programme
that includes recycling, reusing cutlery,
and “ecofooding” with biodegradable
disposables, driving the event to be
completely sustainable.
The TAO Festival offers a fun,
energetic way for green-conscious
party-goers and arts enthusiasts to
reconnect with Nature – through music.
