In order to illustrate more visually the gaps and their changes of HSS research
output per unit input of 211Us located in different regions, we plot the yearly
average of each indicator by university location in Figs.3.73 , 3.74, 3.75and 3.76.
It can be seen from Fig.3.73, in most years, the average of SSCI per capita of
central 211Us is higher than that of eastern or western 211Us. Inside the eastern
211Us, the average of JUs is higher than that of HSZUs or OUs in most years.
It can be seen from Fig.3.74, the average of Monographs per capita of eastern
211Us is higher than the central 211Us, and that of central 211Us is higher than that
of the western 211Us. Inside eastern 211Us, the average of JUs is the higher than
that of HSZUs or OUs in 2006–2008, whereas that of OUs is higher than that of
JUs or HSZUs in 2009–2010.
It can be seen from Fig.3.75that, the average of SSCI articles per¥10 million
of central 211Us is substantially larger than that of eastern or western 211Us. Inside
