rate. By contrast, the indicators of T&R Staff and those with Senior Title have a


relatively small growth rate.


In order to illustrate more visually the trend of research inputs in NEAM dis-


ciplines in 211Us, we plot the yearly averages of some input indicators in line chart.


Please see Figs.3.1,3.2,3.3and3.4.


It can be seen from Fig.3.1, that the two high-level human resources indicators,


CK scholars and JQ scholars, are on a steadily rising trend, with CK scholars


increased from 7.54 to 11.07, and JQ scholars increased from 4.51 to 8.71.


By Fig.3.2, we can see that the university average of T&R staff, and T&R staff


with Senior Title, are on a stable trend with certain increments in the“Eleventh


Five-year”period, but the increments are moderate.


It can be seen from Fig.3.3, that the university average of R&D Grants in the


current year is increasing gradually, from 212,717.5 thousand RMB in 2006 to


499,785.03 thousand RMB in 2010. Especially in 2010, the annual growth rate
reaches its peak, at 35.39%.


It can be seen from Fig.3.4, as a result of controlling for the university scale, the


university average of R&D Grants per capita does not grow as quick as the uni-


versity average of total R&D Grants, yet still with a powerful speed, from


117.51 thousand RMB per capita in 2006 to 247.76 thousand RMB per capita in






3.2.1.2 HSS Disciplines


We present the status and change of research inputs in HSS disciplines of full


sample by the statistics of sum, university average and coefficient of variation. See


Table3.5for details.


It can be seen from Table3.5, the research inputs of HSS disciplines in 211Us


are increasing all the way. (1) The National Key Discipline indicator is relatively


stable, since the MOE evaluation on national key disciplines was merely imple-


mented in 2006, the university average of NK Discipline is 1.78 in 2006, and is
