3.3.2.2 HSS Disciplines
In order to examine the gaps on HSS research outputs of 211Us, we calculate the
yearly average of each research output of 985Us and non-985Us separately. See
Table3.21for details.
Table3.21 presents the HSS research outputs of 985Us and non-985Us.
(1) From the view of article outputs, the numbers of SSCI articles of both 985Us
and non-985Us increase; however, the number of CSSCI articles of non-985Us
increases but that of 985Usfirst increases then decreases. (2) On the indicator of
Monographs, two types of universities are relatively stable during thefive-year
period. (3) On the indicator of Reports, both 985Us and non-985Us are decreasing
year by year.
The HSS research outputs of 985Us and non-985Us are also very different in the
aspect of yearly change rate. We present their differences in Table3.22.
It can be found in Table3.22, in most of years, the growth rates of SSCI articles
and CSSCI articles of non-985Us are larger than those of 985Us.The growth rates
of Monographs for both types of universities arefluctuant, and the growth rates of
Reports are mostly negative.
