It can be found in Table3.26, the averages of SSCI articles and CSSCI articles
of 211Us located in all regions are in the uptrend, while the averages of Reports are
in the downtrend. The average of Monographs of eastern 211Us is on the rising
trend with certain declines in particular years, while that of the central or the west is
decreasing all along.
In order to illustrate more visually the agglomeration effect of HSS research
outputs in eastern 211Us, we further divide it into three areas, Jing-Jin-Ji,
Hu-Su-Zhe and other areas. The indicator averages are plotted in Figs.3.52,3.53,
3.54and3.55.
It can be found in Fig.3.52, the average of SSCI articles of eastern 211Us is
considerably larger than that of central or western 211Us. Inside the eastern 211Us,
the averages of SSCI articles of JUs and HSZUs are larger than that of OUs, and the
averages of SSCI articles of 211Us located in these three areas are basically on the
step-wise decaying trend.
It can be found in Fig.3.53that, the averages of CSSCI articles of the eastern,
central and western 211Us are on the step-wise decaying trend from east to west.
